Jan Sobieski (1629-1696) was one of the most notable monarchs of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This chess board is dedicated to the Battle of Vienna on 12 September 1683. In this historical battle Sobieski stoped offensive of Osman Empire and saved Vienna from occupation.
